Cecilia Sebastian de Erice

Cecilia Sebastián de Erice (Madrid, 1996) is an artist whose pictorial practice focuses on exploring the intersection of diverse themes and painting processes through the creation of an open network of cross-relations. In this endeavor, her aim is to establish meaningful connections between different elements, forming a complex and ever-evolving visual landscape.

She seeks to represent the flow of thoughts, relationships, and automatisms inherent in the creative process and artistic experimentation. Each work serves as a meeting point where unconscious energies and intimate memories converge, expressed on the canvas through a combination of colors and gestures that generate a visual dialogue between the conscious and the subconscious.

She graduated with first-class honors in Fine Arts from Manchester Metropolitan University (2018) and later completed a Master’s in the Art Market and Management of Related Businesses (2019). She has participated in prestigious artist residencies such as the Antonio Gala Foundation (2022–2023) and PADA Studios (2021).

Among her most recent recognitions are her selection as a finalist in the 39th BMW Painting Prize (2024), being awarded the VEGAP Grant for Visual Creation Projects (2023), and receiving an Honorable Mention in the 26th Mainel Foundation Painting Prize (2023).
